Makarska is a resort south of Split on the Adriatic, more precisely, Makarska Riviera in Dalmatia. The majestic Mount Biokovo which is 1700 meters high is located behind the town. From there is a ferry to Sumartin on Brac island.

Makarska is a seaside resort and fishing port with blue water and several kilometers long beaches. The picturesque coastal location offers activities such as parasailing, fishing, snorkeling and windsurfing. Here you can dive from cliffs into the aquamarine sea. Seafront visitors can sit at one of the many cafes and enjoy the Italian pizza or the lively nightlife. Biokovo National Park has several excellent trails with beautiful views. By Cetina River, visitors can go rafting and kayaking. In Makarska is the cave that the Yugoslav Tito’s partisans hid in from the Nazis during World War II.
