Albertslund is located on Zealand and is a suburb municipality to Denmark’s capital Copenhagen. Albertslund has about 30,000 inhabitants (2009), and is located 15 km west of Copenhagen – the Capital Region. Suburban area grew in the 1960s, and here lies one of the largest forests in Denmark – Vestskoven. The municipality has managed to halve its CO2 emissions, and in 2007 was awarded the Nordic Council Nature and Environment Prize.
