Attractions in Torrevieja
There are many sights in Torrevieja. The beautiful Parque de las Naciones Located in the center is open year round and is a great place to bring your family. There is a large market every Friday and in the summer there is an evening market and a mini funfair near the harbor and seafront. The water park Aquapolis is open from June to September, and then we have the Salt Museum which can be visited all year.
The park – Parque de las Naciones
The beautiful city park “Parque de las Naciones” is 1,100 meters northwest of the square “Plaza de la Constitución” in the center of Torrevieja. The park covers an area of 40,000 m2 – and is a popular attraction for the whole family. Inside the park is a large lake – that forms the silhouette of the European continent. The lake also has swans and geese. The park has otherwise great sculptures, exhibition hall, chapel and large play area for children.

The Church – Archpriestal Church of the Inmaculada Concepcion
Torrevieja beautiful main church is located on the square “Plaza de la Constitución” and is listed in the neoclassical style. Archpriestal Church of the Inmaculada Concepcion was originally constructed in 1789 – but was destroyed by the earthquake that struck the city in 1929. The church, however was reconstructed in 1844, and was completed in 1928. The church has two towers, and the capacity to accommodate 1,000 people. By the reconstruction of the church were used stones from the old tower Torrevieja. Inside the church one can see the statue dedicated to the patron saint – created by sculptor Ponsada in 1940.

Guard towers El Moro and La Mata
Along Torrevieja’s coastline we find the ancient watchtowers of El Moro and La Mata. These were built in the 1500s and placed along the Valencia coast south of Alicante. There is a tower for every three kilometers, a total of 37 towers. They were used to control sea traffic in the Mediterranean. If they saw an enemy, the towers communicated with each other, using smoke signals during the day and bonfires at night.
El Parque Natural de la Lagunas de La Mata y Torrevieja
Torrevieja has a protected nature park called The Nature Park of the La Mata Lagoon and Torrevieja Lagoon. This area is included in a list of the most healthful places found Europe. This area has a bird sanctuary that protects flamingos that live there. Torrevieja and La Mata lagoons are surrounded by a unique landscape, and is a major tourist attraction. The entrance to the nature park located near La Mata beach in northern part of Torrevieja, and here we also find the modern visitors’ center “Centro de Información del Parque Natural.” The area consists of wetlands and saltwater lakes – used for salt production. The nature park is also an important conservation area for birds, and here one can spot various species of birds – including flamingos. Visitors have the opportunity to swim in the salt lagoon – which will be very healthy for people with ia arthritis, respiratory problems and rheumatism. The particular reddish color on one salt lagoon caused by algae, and is a favorite photo object. The nature park has great hiking and biking trails and visitor center is open most days of the year.

Speed and excitement with Go-Karts
Go-Karts Orihuela Costa is conveniently located between the popular seaside resorts of Punta Prima and Playa Flamenca just off the N332 four-lane highway. The waterpark Aquapolis in Torrevieja
Aquopolis water park located on the outskirts of Torrevieja, close to the sports area. In the park there are several water activities for both children and adults, such as an artificial wave pool, zigzag, a zip line, a waterfall, and for the bravest the famous Kamikaze, which is a long enclosed tube that throws your body high speed into the pool. There is and a green area with many umbrellas and a wide range of security measures that provide help to all attractions. And for the youngest children, there is a children’s pool with water toys and a mini water slide.

Flamingo Aqua Park
Aqua Park Flamingo is a small but a reasonable water park in Torrevieja, ideal for families with young children since the park is not too big to walk around. It has a few slides suitable for younger children, with a shallow pool area for them to play in. They also have a number of larger slides for children or adults. It has and larger, deeper pool for swimming. There are plenty of shaded areas to relax during the midday sun and sunbeds are free. Food is available and parking is free. Since the waterpark is smaller than the other, it is not so busy, and less que for rides and food. Aqua Park Flamingo is located in Urb. La Siesta, Torrevieja, 2 minutes from Carrefour and the new Habaneras shopping center.

Submarine Museum – Museo Submarino S-61 Delfin
The submarine S-61 Delfin is Spain’s first floating museum and is located in the Torrevieja harbor. The submarine belonged formerly to the Spanish Navy and was later donated to Torrevieja municipality – and converted into a museum in 2004. Visitors can go aboard and learn more about how the crew lived and lived in the vessel.
The submarine was built in France between 1958 and 1970, later bought by the Spanish Navy. S-61 Delfin is a 57.8 meter long Daphné class submarine. S-61 Delfin is part of Sea and Salt Museum.

Sea and salt museum – Museo del Mar y de la Sal
The Sea and Salt Museum in Torrevieja ( “Museo del Mar y de la Sal”) is one of the city’s major cultural institutions. It is close to the harbor and is an ethnological museum where visitors can learn about Torrevieja`s history and traditions. The Sea and Salt Museum was inaugurated in 1995, and in the exhibition, you can see old photographs, objects made of salt, model boats, archaeological objects as well as fishing and navigation tools. Free admission.

Experience the sandy beach in Playa de La Mata
There are several beaches in Torrevieja. Besides the town beach, which is on the south side of town you also have La Mata beach which is at the north end of Torrevieja. This is a 2.5 km long beach which has received designation Blue Flag for several years because of the quality, purity and availability. Playa de la Mata is the longest and most beautiful beach in Torrevieja, located in the northern part of town. Playa de la Mata extends from the tower “Torre del Moro” to the end of La Mata – and is also surrounded by the salt lagoon “Laguna de la Mata” and the park “Parque del molino del Agua.” The sandy beach has rental of sunbeds and parasols, and there are several nice cafes and restaurants nearby.

Markets in Torrevieja
The town of Torrevieja has 3 popular markets, and the largest and most popular is the Friday market, with over 1,200 stalls. There is also a small Craft Market open every evening from 20:00 and a daily fish market where for the best deals. Come early when restaurants and catering businesses is going to act the freshest catch of the day. Just a short drive from Torrevieja there are 2 very popular markets. The Lemon Tree Market is about 10 minutes drive north of the city and takes place every Sunday from 09:00 to 2:00.
